Top Marques Monaco 2012 Supercars, Luxury Watches and Superboats

If you happen to be in Monaco this evening head down to the Grimaldi Forum for a delightful event filled with visions of luxury supercars, watches and superboats. The 9th Annual Top Marques Monaco 2012 is one of the only prestigious shows to join luxury supercars, watches and superboats.  Of course the idea makes perfect sense, since an arm resting on the steering wheel of a Pagani requires a luxury watch in kind and the same goes for the arm resting on a deck of a Luxury Yacht.  The show runs from April 19th to April 22nd, 2012

Roger Dubuis Pulsion
To accommodate the growing exhibitors of luxury watches, the Top Marques Monaco has increased its watch venue to 2000 square meters at the Espace Diaghilev.
One can delight in a hands on with the new Roger Dubuis Collection including four great models all meeting the new stringent standards required to achieve the Hallmark of Geneve. (read about the new standards here) .
The four models: Pulsion, Velvet, Excalibur and La Monegasque represent the four different worlds: Player, Warrior, Venturer and Diva.
With these models Roger Dubuis is displaying uncanny horological technical advances in mechanics and materials ,such as the super scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass and flying tourbillons, while still upholding the highest quality of traditional watchmaking acquiring both the status of Chronometer and and Hallmark of Geneve.

Fabergé Horlogerie will be on display too - exhibiting the finest of dial artwork comparable to its exquisite Fabergé eggs. The painted art dials and hand-worked guilloché enamel  are reminiscent of the great Romanov palaces and whisper aristocracy and worth. The watches part of the Palais du Temps  Collection  bare names like Alexei Jardin Secret, the Alexei Jardin D’hiver, the Alexei Rotonde, the Alexei Pavillion, the Agathon Palais D’Or and the Anastasia Boudoir, which bring to mind extravagant palace gardens, distinctive Romanov palace architecture and decor and of course, Antastasia Boudoir ,the daughter of Nicholas and Alexandria.

If you lucky you may spot Franck Muller's GIGA Tourbillon. A power house of a watch featuring an expansive 20mm tourbillon and  four large barrels able to store 10 days of power reserve. The skeletonization - a difficult feat in ordinary watches -  displays every component of the movement. Read more about the remarkable movement here.

Top Luxury Brands like CVSTOS, Bakes & Strauss, Longio, Badollet,
Rebellion, Stardust, Baskania and Cresus will be on display as well.

Frank Muller's Largest Tourbillon Now in the Midst of Dazzling Diamonds

Frank Muller Giga Tourbillon Paved in Diomands

It seems quite fitting for the largest tourbillon ever to be incorporated into a wristwatch be surrounded by diamonds.  These dazzling Giga Tourbillons were unveiled  last month at the 2012 World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie (WPHH).
The Giga Tourbillon  Collection was first introduced in 2011.  The tourbillon, on these watches,  commands half the space on the dial and measures a whopping 20mm in diameter.  I first blogged  Frank Muller's Tourbillon Collection back in 2011.
This new glamorous 18K white cold Cintrée CurvexTM”-shaped Giga Tourbillon case is paved with 474 diamonds amounting to 9.57 cts. 280 White diamonds upon the dial surround the tourbillon like a cloud.
The tourbillon itself is a feat of engineering conjoined to a  manual wound FM 2100 caliber movement capable of a 10 day power reserve.    This type of technique enabling this amount of power reserve for such a large watch mechanism is quite rare and virtually unheard of beyond the beautiful grounds of Frank Muller's Watchland.    The Giga Tourbillon is actually fitted with two pairs of spring boxes, both 16mm in diameter. Most tourbillon's are fitted with only one or two.

In order not to mask the immense tourbillon on either side of the watch case, the watch is not fitted with a rotor, but rather  wound at the crown. The movement is equipped with  four barrels beating at a frequency of 18,000 vph and comprises of 29 jewels and 240 components.  Hand chamfering and circular graining adds to the impeccable finishing of the movement.

This watch is part of a host of other Giga Tourbillon diamond studded models housing a 693 diamond studded movement on bridge and plate. The watch is available in white gold, pink gold or PVD covered in black diamonds.

Wearing a Giga Tourbillon Watch will sure get you noticed big time.

The Largest Wristwatch Tourbillon Ever by Franck Muller

Franck Muller claims to have created the largest tourbillon incorporated into a wristwatch. At 20mm this delicate beauty takes up half the watch. This watch is part of Franck Muller's new GIGA Tourbillon Collection. A technical feat such as this requires a high degree of expertise, intensive research and development as well as exceptionally talented craftsmanship. The tourbillon has a remarkable 10 day power reserved prominently displayed at the 12 'o'clock position. To achieve this feat, the Giga Tourbillon is fitted with two pairs of spring boxes, both 16mm in diameter. Most tourbillon's are fitted with only one or two.

This mechanical timepiece watch requires winding at the crown, which powers an in house FM 2100 Caliber movement containing no less than four barrels beating at a frequency of 18,000 vph. The skeleton version -depicted above- intensifies the vast look of the tourbillon. The case is crafted from white gold and looks black as it is treated with black PVD. Hand chamfering and circular graining adds to the impeccable finishing of the movement which is affixed with the Geneve Seal

The Giga Tourbillon signifies yet another masterpiece created from idea to final product on the scenic grounds of Franck Muller Watchland.

Despite economy, Franck Muller goes ahead with WPHH 2009

Franck Muller Aeternitas Version II Perpetual Calendar

Tomorrow, January 18th Franck Muller will open the doors on its 12th World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie, coinciding with the SIHH which opens its doors on January 19th. Watch customers, journalist and enthusiasts from around the globe will be able to visit both events.
The WPHH promises to be a spectacular event hosted in the grand Franck Muller Watchland Park. Watchland is located a few minutes from Geneva where the air is pure and the gently sloping terrain on the banks of Lake Geneva is the Village of Genthod, an idyllic setting for a Watch Company. In 1995, Frank Muller moved his headquarters to "les Amandoliers" - a neo-Gothic style manor house designed by famous architect, Edmond Fatio, and built in 1905. The manor house accomodates some of Frank Muller workshops and administrative headquarters. Two new buildings complimenting Edmond Fatio's architectural style as well as two additional structures, terraced gardens are part of Frank Muller's expansive Watchland.
Nine Franck Muller brands will be displayed at this year's WPHH:
Franck Muller, Frank Muller Jewerly, Pierre Kunz, ECW, Rodolphe, Barthelay, Backes & Strauss, Martin Braun and Pierre Michel Golay.
In addition 2009 will be a first for Frank Muller Watchland as it introduces an entire range of new mechanical movements made entirely within the FM group, from an idea to the finished product. A sneak peak at the complications in question include the new automatic FM movement for the column wheel chronograph 3210 CC AT and the automatic movements 2210 & 2211.
